Jensen Design Architects was honored to design the first Courtyard by Marriott to be constructed using modular construction methods that is located on the campus of Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. The project consisted of a 4-story, 122 unit Courtyard with large meeting spaces, dining, lobby and lounge. JDA teamed up with Guerdon Enterprises of Boise, Idaho to successfully design and construct this project. The modular units were constructed in Boise and included all of the guest room furniture. They were then shipped (one modular equals 2 guest rooms and a corridor) to Pullman, about 300 miles. This type of construction allowed the project to be constructed without delay during the winter and about one third faster than conventional construction methods.
